If you're a college student or a parent of a college student, then you are all too aware of how bleeping expensive college tuition is these days. So, that sucks, but there are other place students are wasting money needlessly, exacerbating the financial damage done. Avoid it!
Forbes outlines 10 ways students are throwing money away on everything from school supplies to of course, social life (read: beer). Check out a few here, and the rest of the list at Forbes.

Don't buy new textbooks: Getting brand-spanking new books for class from the campus bookstore is going to cost a heck of a lot more than used books bought online. Many universities also allow you to rent books for a much lower cost than buying it outright. Having a car on campus will cost you: Sell that car grandma gave you before you get to school, or else you'll be stuck paying repair costs, insurance, gas and parking. Need to drive to visit home on the holidays and weekends? Sign up for ride shares on campus and carpool with students going to the same town. Owning a bike to get you around campus is a much cheaper option than pouring money into a car. Skip tempting credit offers: Be strong! The average student will leave college with around $4,100 in credit card debt. Use your cash card instead, and if you do end up with a credit card, use it sparingly. You don't have to buy into every deal: Students are often the target for discounts on everything from computers to phones. But just because there's a sale or a deal offered, doesn't mean you have to buy in. If there is something you want or need, check out available discounts before you by.
