(KSL News) -- The Hurricane Katrina evacuee accused of setting a Provo apartment on fire has been charged with a first-degree felony of aggravated arson.
Yesterday Herbert Landy was appointed a public defender and is now being held on a $500,000 cash-only bail.
Landy had been evicted from the complex the day before the fire, and witnesses reported seeing him leave just before the fire broke out.
Nine apartments were destroyed. Damage is estimated at $300,000.
