ST. GEORGE -- Lightning is believed to have sparked a fire that destroyed a dry cleaning business in St. George.
Video shows flames leaping from the roof of Malibu Cleaners at 324 Hilton Drive. The fire began around 9:30 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses say lighting struck the building and flames were seen shortly after that.
The flames intensified as a result of chemicals in the building.
Firefighters shut down Hilton Drive to bring in two ladder trucks to fight the fire from above and more engines to fight the fire from ground level. They used a total of six engines on this fire.
Crews brought the fire under control by about 1 a.m.
The owner of Malibu Cleaners told KSL she owns several cleaners in St. George but this was the original location. She says the cleaners would have celebrated 19 years of service this month.
