HARTFORD, Conn., Mar 5, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- By 2010, women will own more than 50 percent of stock in the United States.
Also by 2010, U.S. women will represent 50 percent of the private wealth in America, or about $14 trillion, M2W -- The Marketing to Women Conference -- reported. By 2020, that number is expected to rise to $22 trillion.
Women are already the majority users of the Internet and have surpassed men as the primary consumers of computers, cameras and PDAs, M2W reported.
"There is an exciting gender shift in the marketplace," said Nan McCann, producer of M2W. "Women currently control $7 trillion in consumer and business spending. Women-owned businesses employ more people in the United States than all Fortune 500 companies combined."
