LOS ANGELES -- Utah had an exciting game against USC, but failed to tie the game with a field goal in the final seconds.
Utah played well against a powerhouse of the Pac-12, several players made great contributions to the game.
Here is a look at the top performers of the night:
Matt Barkley, USC QB:
Matt Barkley lead the Trojans to a victory over the Ute's as he went 20-32 for 264 yards. Barkley put just enough points on the board to manufacture a win over Utah in this Pac-12 faceoff.
Devonte Christopher, Utah WR:
Devonte Christopher had a huge game with 11 receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown. Christopher was Jordan Wynn's go-to man against the Trojans. His key receptions kept Utah in the game. Wynn connected with Christopher on the final reception of the game allowing the Ute's to set up a field goal opportunity that would have tied the game.
The Utah defense put on an impressive performance. The defense deserves some credit for both of the Utah touchdowns. The Utes forced a fumble and came up with a big interceptions giving the offence great field possession. The Utah defense proved they could keep up with any major offence.
Matt Kalil, USC DT:
Matt Kalil came up with the play of the game. Utah kicker Coleman Petersen attempted a 41-yard field goal with 11 seconds to go. Kalil busted through the Utah offensive line and and blocked the field goal, preventing the game from entering overtime and preserving the Trojans' win.
