Minifee, Alexander lead Southern Utah to 35-14 win

CEDAR CITY, Utah (AP) -- Austin Minifee and Deckar Alexander had two touchdowns each and Southern Utah scored the final 25 points of the game to defeat Sacramento State 35-14 on Saturday.

Minifee's 92-yard kickoff return put the Thunderbirds (1-1) ahead for good, 17-14, with 3:25 left in the first half. He added a 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter, while Alexander scored on runs of 12 and 3 yards for Southern Utah.

Bryan Hilliard had both touchdowns for Sacramento State (1-1), which upset Oregon State 29-28 last week. Hilliard finished with 101 yards on 18 carries as the Hornets piled up 208 yards on the ground. But quarterback Jeff Fleming was just 10 for 27 passing for 78 yards.

Southern Utah quarterback Brad Sorensen, coming off a 340-yard, three-touchdown showing in the season opener, was 30 for 37 for 271 yards. The Thunderbirds did not commit a turnover in the game.
