SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah congressman Jason Chaffetz has a simple question for his fellow Utah congressmen: can't we all just get along?

Utah only has five members in congress who apparently don't get together enough to talk about the state. Chaffetz says it's time for that to change.

Chaffetz says Utah could get a lot further in Washington by just getting the delegation together every once in a while.

But the delegation as a whole does not regularly get together to just talk about Utah

Chaffetz blames senior delegation member, Senator Orrin Hatch, for the dysfunctional relationship. Hatch's office says the delegates have met about a half dozen times in the past year or so, but Chaffetz has only shown up twice.

He says I wouldn't take much.

"Just sit around the table, without staff, and just sit there and go around the table and say ‘Jim Matheson, what are you working on? Jason Chaffetz, what are you working on? How can we help each other?'"

Chaffetz says Utah's congressmen all represent different constituents, but there are many things they should agree on. He also told KSL's Doug Wright that congressmen in other states, like Texas and Arizona, meet every week over breakfast. Chaffetz says it could help pass bills that are key to the state's needs.
