PROVO, Utah (AP) -- Jordan Pearce believes she hugged her way into the record book.

With help from her church, the 18-year-old BYU student says she hugged 765 people in less than an hour yesterday. She plans to send the results to Guinness World Records. The Provo Daily Herald says the record is 612 hugs in an hour.

Pearce got help from members of her church. The hugs were witnessed by a local judge, Lynn Davis, and state Senator Curt Bramble.

A new record will not be approved until Guinness gets photographs, video and written statements from witnesses.

Pearce's reaction? "I feel like I'm on cloud nine."
