LEWISTON, Cache County — The case of a 4-year-old girl shot and killed by her 9-year-old brother playing with a BB gun has been turned over to the Cache County Attorney's Office for review.

Karely Arzeta-Reyes died Aug. 18 after being shot the day before. Her brothers, ages 11 and 9, were pumping their BB guns with air and firing them at their sister, according to police.

On the final shot, however, there was a BB in the gun which struck the girl on the side of the head.

The girl was initially taken to Franklin County Medical Center before being transported to Primary Children's Medical Center where she died from her injuries.

Police believe the shooting was an accident. It will be up to prosecutors to determine if there was any negligence involved.
