MIDVALE — Draper police officers discovered one of their own allegedly smoking heroin inside a marked police vehicle Friday.
Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said a security officer at a Sportsman's Warehouse on 7200 South contacted police after observing an officer in a police vehicle smoking what appeared to be some sort of illegal drug.
The officer, Ben Beglarian, left his vehicle in the store parking lot and began walking toward the nearby InTown Suites motel, reportedly to meet someone. Beglarian, a K-9 officer, was confronted by officers who found drug paraphernalia inside his vehicle, Hoyal said.
Hoyal said charges have yet to be screened by the city attorney and brought before Beglarian.
