CEDAR CITY -- A man swimming with his family drowned Sunday on the Lake at the Hills in Iron County.

Clayton Price, 38, of Cedar City was swimming with his 8- year-old daughter in the designated swim area of the lake, when witnesses said he pushed the girl away and dipped below the water. The girl was quickly retrieved from the water unharmed, but Price never resurfaced.

Officers from the Cedar City Police Department responded to the area around 1:30 p.m. and quickly began searching the surrounding area for Price without success. Recovery efforts were later turned over to a dive team from the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Divers discovered Price's body around 5 p.m., roughly 40 feet from where he was last seen swimming. Officers are not clear at this time as to why Price dipped into the water.

Sunday's drowning is the first drowning incident at the Lake at the Hills since it opened in March 2011.
