(KSL News) A car accident rocked a sheriff's office today. It happened on 3900 South and 1300 East.

Deputies say they were in their office when they heard a thud and saw power poles rocking back and forth outside.

A 26-year-old man had crashed his car into a nearby power pole. His passenger was an 80-year-old woman. Both were taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition.

The accident caused a small grass fire and knocked the pole off its base. Power was out for several hours in the area.
