(KSL News) -- Federal prosecutors in Utah have dropped charges against a Utah County couple accused of dealing peyote.
James and Linda Mooney reached an agreement with prosecutors and have agreed to not use or distribute peyote.
That decison comes a day after the US Spureme Court ruled unanimously that a small branch of South American religious sects may use a drink that contains an illegal substance as part of a ritual.
The court says the government cannot hinder religious practices without proof of a compelling need to do so.
Federal prosecutors say, in light of that ruling, they decided not to go forward with their case against James Mooney and his wife.
