Shelley Osterloh reportingThe Nordic Combined is made up of two sports: Ski jumping and cross country skiing.
Two brothers from Park City are on the combined team; twins who say they each owe part of the success to the other.
Brett and Eric Camerota enjoy doing things together, but they are very competitive. So it makes sense that they would both be competing in their first Olympics - together.
The 21 year old twin brothers grew up in Park City and have been skiing and jumping - almost since they can remember.
Eric Camerota, U.S. Nordic Combined Team: "When I was seven I moved up here and joined the club... Jumping off hay bales and stuff like that."
Brett Camerota, U.S. Nordic Combined Team: "I grew up here in Park City just skiing at Park City resort."
Brett and Eric compete in the Nordic Combined Event...a hybrid sport that combines both ski jumping and cross country skiing.
Eric Camerota, U.S. Nordic Combined Team: "It's so challenging, this sport. Really no one knows about it, but it's really challenging and that's kind of what fuels everyone."
Brett Camerota, U.S. Nordic Combined Team: "We have an endurance sport which takes almost all of our time up, but we still have a lot of plyos and things like that to make our muscles quick twitch muscles for jumping."
Each of these athletes has an impressive record and both worked hard to earn a spot on the Olympic team.
Eric Camerota, U.S. Nordic Combined Team: "Just growing up with the sport, learning about the olympics and everything. That's the biggest event there is."
Brett and Eric will compete against each other in the individual event. But both men say they are still each other's biggest fan!
Brett Camerota, U.S. Nordic Combined Team: "We push each other in training but as far as competitions go, it's not really competitive, we both push each other in comps and if one of us does well, it's good for both of us."
Today Brett cheers from the sidelines as Eric competes: First on the long jump, then right after in Crosscountry ski race --- a 4.7 mile sprint.
You can watch the Nordic Combined event this afternoon, right here on KSL 5.
