Courtney Orton ReportingSalt Lake City police are investigating a stabbing outside a hotel.
Police say about 6:30 Saturday evening three men walked out of the south door of the Red Lion hotel into a parking lot and found a man rummaging through their car.
Lee Justet said, "We saw a guy getting out of my friend's car. We chased him down here, probably 10 feet, where he stabbed my friend."
Lt. Lamar Ewell of the Salt Lake City Police Department said, "At some point during the chase they caught up to him, and the suspect turned and stabbed one of them in the chest."
Police say the victim is in critical condition. We're told he went directly into surgery at a local hospital.
Police searched the car, looking for fingerprints or any other clues. Officers are also reviewing hotel surveillance video. They're hoping to find video of the suspect running away.
The suspect is described as a Hispanic male about 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. Witnesses describe him wearing a brown or white T-shirt. He has a goatee and brown hair.
