Keith McCord ReportingSomething very unusual happened on Day Eight of the Salt Lake Olympics; gold medals were awarded for two teams in the same event.

It was a huge day in Winter Olympic history when the IOC decided to award a second set of gold medals to Jamie Sale and David Peletier, the Canadian Ice Skating team. The "Skategate" controversy finally had come to a head.

When the IOC suspended the French judge, her scores were thrown out, resulting in a tie between the Canadian and Russian Teams. Kudo's to the Olympic officials for resolving the matter within a week, and humor from the newly anointed Gold Medal winners.

"And we do hope we get the bronze too, so we can get the entire collection in our living room."

The O.C. Tanner company would now scramble to make a second set of gold medals to be awarded at a later ceremony.

Also on this day four years ago, a close call for former Olympian Rulon Gardner. The Greco Roman wrestler spent the night in below zero temperatures in Wyoming when his snowmobile failed. Suffering from frostbite and hypothermia, he was hospitalized.

"There were a lot of prayers last night for Rulon Gardner, and those prayers were answered."

Lucky to be alive, Gardner would stay in an Idaho falls hospital for several more days.
