MONROE, Sevier County -- Sevier County Sheriff's Office is investigation the death of a 77-year-old Monroe man found near Joseph, Utah.
The man, identified as James Lawton of Monroe, was found dead on Watts Mountain Road, located west of Joseph.
Lawton was last seen alive by his adoptive son, William Lawton, 30, when they left the house around 11 p.m. Saturday. William Lawton arrived later at the home around 2 a.m., reporting that he and his father had been assaulted by unknown individuals.
Sevier County Deputies later found James Lawton beside the road in some bushes. Evidence at the scene indicated signs of a struggle where Lawton was dragged from the road and into the bushes beside the road.
It is not known how Lawton died, but officers are considering William Lawton a person of interest in the case.
