SALT LAKE CITY — State Rep. Carl Wimmer, R-Herriman, is making a run at Utah's soon-to-be-created 4th Congressional District.
"Washington is running us bankrupt, and it's high time that we send someone back, a fiscal conservative, who is willing to not only say the right things but do the right things; someone who is willing to fight for individual liberty," Wimmer said Monday.
He has been raising money for several months, eyeing a possible run in 2012. Now he has officially created a campaign committee with the Federal Election Committee.
The official boundaries for the 4th District won't be drawn until this fall, which is when Wimmer expects to make a bigger deal about his candidacy.
