(KSL News) An electrical short in a telephone poll sparked a grass fire this afternoon.

It started just before 2 p.m. near 750 North and 5600 West.

The dry grass and high winds caused the fire to burn out of control for a short time, and made it difficult for crews to control it. Several buildings were threatened.

It burned nearly 300 acres.
