SALT LAKE CITY — Police are offering a $5,000 reward in hopes of finding the driver of a vehicle in a hit-and-run accident that left a pedestrian, a single mother of two children, in critical condition and unresponsive.
The vehicle involved is likely a mid-size, four-door Japanese or import, dark or gray in color, that may have sustained damage to its right-front headlight, grille, hood and fender, according to police
Shortly after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Elvia Lopez, 26, was crossing the intersection of 900 South and West Temple when she was struck by the southbound vehicle, police say.
Witnesses said Lopez was crossing West Temple against a red light, walking east in the north crosswalk, according to a Salt Lake police press release. The vehicle did not slow down after the accident, witnesses told police, and continued south onto the nearby freeway on-ramp.
Anyone having information should call 801-799-3000 and can remain anonymous. The $5,000 reward is for any information leading to an arrest or conviction and is offered under the Tips for Cash Program.
