Shelley Osterloh ReportingPart of hosting the Olympic Games is to come up with an original yet appealing look. Something eye-catching, something fans, athletes and the media will immediately recognize and attach to the games.

Torino's 'Olympic Look'

Every Olympic city comes up with its own look-- graphic designs that are featured in its artwork, decoration. Remember Salt Lake focused its design around the snowflake.

Torino didn't stray far from Italian tradition. It's design is unique, yet stimulating.

The man in charge of the "look of the games" says they started with the slogan for the Torino Games, which is "passion lives here." Then they added some of the architectural elements common in the city, like the arches and piazzas.

Andrea Varnier/ TOROC Managing Dir. Image and Events: "Then we said, 'Where is passion really taking from in the country?' And we thought the Italian piazza was the right place. It's a place where people meet, they have fun, they shop, they talk, and it's everywhere.. in Torino, in the villages, but everywhere else in the country. So we thought the concept of piazza will tell something about our country. So we represent it geographically. This piazza and cut little pieces and crops to represent the look of the Games."

It really is a beautiful look.
