(KSL News) A 50-year-old driver slammed into a moose up Parley's Canyon early this morning.
Troopers say the man was not speeding or drinking, but it was very dark and hard to see.
The man was near the Mountain Dell Recreation area when he came around a bend and saw the moose in the middle of the road.
He drove up the side of the mountain to avoid the animal, but couldn't. He hit the estimated 15-hundred pound moose, then his car rolled. The man was stuck in his totalled car. Fire crews had to extricate him.
He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. The moose died.
