E-mail Scam Asks for Money to Cancel Killing-for-Hire

Tom Callan ReportingOrem police warn about crazed email scammer threatening to kill you.

The emailer tells his victims, "I've been hired to kill you. I am watching you."

Lt. Doug Edwards says, "The e-mailer says that though he's been contracted to kill them, for a nominal fee he can be persuaded to not carry out the contract."

Lt. Edwards says the FBI believes the email is out of Russia. He says on one scam, the victim sent a check for $12,000.
