(KSL News) -- A motorcycle officer with the Salt Lake City Police Department crashed on the Bangerter Highway this afternoon.
He was riding alongside another motorcycle officer. The pair exited from Bangerter Highway to westbound I-80, when the officer's bike slid out from underneath him. He and his bike slid about 200 feet and collided with a barrier.
The officer suffered serious injuries to his leg and fingers and was transported to a hospital. His helmet and other protective gear prevented more serious injuries.
The officer's name has not been released.
