OGDEN — A suspect remains at large after reportedly waving a gun at people in the streets of Ogden Tuesday night.
"At about 5:00 this afternoon we received several calls from people in the area of an individual, a man, who had a handgun in his possession," said Lt. Eric Young of the Ogden City Police Department.
Young said SWAT teams "flooded" the area near the 500 block of 32nd Street in Ogden after receiving reports that the man was pointing a gun at his own head, at the head of a woman with him and at motorists and pedestrians on the street.
According to witnesses, the man hopped a fence and entered a duplex but was not in the building when police made contact with those inside. Young said police know the identity of the woman who was with the man and will be following up on leads to determine the identity of the suspect.
Young said at this time he does not believe the man is a danger to others, but he is potentially armed.
"We're concerned certainly, that's why we took the actions we did," Young said.
According to Young, the suspect is approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, with a dark complexion, short hair and heavy tattoos. At the time of the incident he was shirtless and wearing shorts.
