Family members find man who went missing from state hospital

PROVO — A man, who walked out of the Utah State Hospital on June 2 was found safe Monday afternoon.

The family of Thayne Ford said officers found him walking the Provo Canyon Trail Monday. Police got a tip from someone who saw Ford at a grocery store in Provo.

Ford's father said Ford was sunburned and dehydrated, but otherwise OK.

On Sunday, the family searched areas of Utah County for Ford, who suffers from a mental illness and seizure disorder. He left the hospital with just the clothes on his back.
