Shelley Osterloh ReportingOnly a handful of US athletes have competed in both winter and summer Olympics, but Chris Witty is one of them. She moved here in 1999 to train for the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City and will represent America in Torino.
You may remember Chris Witty from the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City. The speedskater won gold in the 1000 meter race.
Chris Witty, Olympic Speedskater, July 2005: "To have the opportunity at the peak of my career to compete in my country and win a gold medal in world record time, that's something; I don't think I can ever top that."
Witty also competed in the 1994 and 1998 Winter Olympics. And during the 2000 Summer Games, Witty exchanged her skates for a bike and placed fifth in the 500 meter cycling time trials. These days, though, Witty devotes all of her time to her first passion.
Chris Witty, Olympic Speedskater: "This is what I do full time. I don't work another job or anything. This is it. I'm a speedskater and I've been a speedskater my whole life, so it's really just part of who I am."
Witty grew up in Wisconsin and began skating competitively when she was just 10-years old.
