PAROWAN — A man who got out of his car to check on another motorist who slid off I-15 in a hail storm three miles north of Parowan on Friday was among several people injured in a collision started by a third car that also slid off the road.
Andrew Mitchelides, 26, from Cambridge, Mass., was standing next to the window of an Impala driven by 21-year-old Chantel Jones of St. George when an Accord driven by 56-year-old Linda Butler of Las Vegas lost control and hit the rear end of the Impala, pushing it into Mitchelides, according to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Cole Douglas.
All three people were taken by ambulance to Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City. Three passengers in the Accord also received minor injuries. Butler was later flown to University Medical Center in Las Vegas with head injuries.
The investigating trooper said all of the vehicle occupants were wearing seat belts.
