Andrew Adams, KSL Newsradio A morning house fire in Holladay is under investigation.

The fire broke out around 8:30 near 4200 South and 2200 East.

LaRaine Meyers says she could see the fire spreading across the roof of the house.

She has lived in the house for 35 years. She says, "You know, it's your life. Your whole life is in there."

"They did the right thing, " said Unified Fire Capt. Jay Torgersen. "They smelled the smoke, went outside, and called 911 from outside."

Memories Go Up in Smoke

A car in the garage was destroyed by the fire, and a boat adjacent to the home was damaged. The house isn't a total loss. The damage is estimated between $80,000 and $100,000.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
