Alex Cabrero reporting Salt Lake City has a lot of visitors this weekend, with Sundance and the Outdoor Retailers Show in town. That means lots of traffic, unless you take a different option.
One man says it's easy to tell when the big shows are in town, and this weekend is one of them.
Lots of people are walking around downtown and the Wasatch Pedicab Company would like to give them all a ride-- for free.
Like a lot of people, Justin DeYoung goes to work every night. But unlike a lot of people, his job is to give people a ride on his bike.
"How's it going man? You want a lift?" "No, I'm good." "All right. Have a great night."
It's the kind of thing that when you see one, you have to look at it for a few minutes, thinking why in the world would someone ever want to drive one?
Justin DeYoung: "I just have a good time doing it. It gives me a lot of flexibility hour-wise."
Justin: "It's just kind of cool to hang out with Salt Lake City, basically."
Even if Salt Lake City looks like Alaska.
Drivers with the Wasatch Pedicab Company work 6:00 at night to 2 am, giving free rides, asking only for tips.
And with events like Jazz games, the outdoor retailers show, and Friday night fun, there's lots of tips out there.
Justin: "Yeah, pretty much. Sundance has been very good to us. There's been a lot of people out in the street, lots of business downtown."
DeYoung says he keeps warm with all the pedaling, and doesn't need to join a gym.
Justin: "My legs are good and strong now."
They'll have to be, because with so much activity downtown this weekend, there won't be time for many breaks.
Justin: "Pretty much back-to-back. You drop one off and pick one up. On an eight hour shift, you get pretty tired by the end of the night."
It is a lot of work, but with all the shows and events downtown this weekend, it'll be some good money as well.
