Gene Kennedy reportingA 21 year-old Ogden woman is clinging to life this afternoon.
She was shot twice in her driveway last night. Witnesses pointed police to the shooter. They've made an arrest, but the search for evidence continues.
Police say the victim apparently knew the shooter. They were friends who got into an argument over property. What kind of property, police aren't sure, but we've learned that trouble began between these two at a different place from where the crime occurred.
Det. Kyle Bosgieter, Ogden Police: "They were together at his home. Shortly before the shooting, there was some sort of altercation or disagreement or something there. And she and went the the home on Patterson, he came over"
In the driveway of the home on Patterson Street, police say the suspect shot the victim twice, in the chest and arm. She stumbled into the home, leaving a trail of blood behind.
Witnesses identified the shooter as Earnie Ford who has an extensive criminal history, according to police.
Officers arrested Ford last night at his home on Stephens Street. Detectives are now saying he may have been on parole at the time of the shooting.
Meanwhile, the hunt continues for the suspect's truck. Police believe a friend took off in it, possibly heading for Salt Lake City.
Det. Kyle Bosgieter, Ogden Police: "We need to locate that truck for possible evidence from the crime, and also there may be a weapon in there that we need to find."
Police want you to be on the lookout for a 1980 brown pickup with license plate number 470 WSJ. If you see a vehicle matching that description, please call Ogden Police.
Police are charging Earnie Ford with attempted murder. The woman he allegedly shot is in critical condition after undergoing surgery this morning.
