Dan Pope, Live 5 Meteorologist Severe afternoon thunderstorms slammed into the St. George area, causing high winds, flash floods and localized power outages.

Reports indicate flooding of businesses and low-lying areas. Up to two inches of rain has fallen over the area in a short period of time. Hail was reported to be an inch in diameter in some locations.

Remember that many flash flood deaths occur in automobiles. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road. When encountering flooded roads, make the smart choice and "Turn around, don't drown."
