(KSL News) Miss Utah wanted to take part in the Days of '47 Parade, but organizers declined. Instead Jill Stevens took part in the Days of '47 Marathon, which covered part of the parade route.

The President of the Days of '47 Parade Committee says it's nothing against Jill Stevens, past winners of "Miss Utah" were not part of the parade either.

President Bruce Bingham said, "We have a policy where royalty within the parade itself is the Days of '47 royalty, and we don't recognize others. Now, someone will say, 'What about Miss Taylorsville and all those folks?' Those come kind of with the float that's part of their community, and it's not the for-profit experience that a Miss America pageant encompasses."

The President of the Days of 47 Parade Committee says, organizers could look at changing the rule in the future.
