ROY -- A man apparently died from a self-inflicted gunshot after a standoff with police in Roy.

The standoff began around 7 p.m. Wednesday after a process server delivered civil papers at the man's travel trailer near 3200 West and 4900 South. Police arrived to investigate a "civil dispute."

Chief Greg Whinham tells Ogden's Standard-Examiner that though the papers weren't for the man, he threatened to harm himself and barricaded himself in the trailer.

After a few hours the man stopped talking to officers and a gunshot went off. Officers went into the trailer and found the man dead.

Investigators say it appears he shot himself.

They're in the process of notifying family members.
