SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A House committee has given its OK to a measure that would stop a convicted killer's inheritance.
The committee gave its support to a bill that closes a loophole allowing murderers to collect inheritance from their victims. Which could occur in the killing of a family member.
The bill is sponsored by Representative Karen Morgan of Cottonwood Heights.
Currently, prosecutors must prove the killing was intentional in order to prevent the murderer from profiting from the victim's death.
