HILL AIR FORCE BASE, Utah (AP) -- An e-mail is nice, but two clubs at Hill Air Force Base say kids need something a little more tangible to provide them comfort while a parent is deployed.
The Hill Officers and Enlisted Spouses clubs have teamed up to start a deployment dolls project at the base's family readiness center.
They say though modern technology allows deployed parents to stay in better touch, the dolls provide a more concrete reminder of how much they are loved.
The dolls are actually more like pillows. They are printed with a head-to-toe photo of a deployed parent and have a soft backing made of the familiar camouflage uniform material.
The dolls are offered free of charge and a family can get as many as they need.
