LOGAN - Gary Andersen has a new challenge to face in his 3rd year as head coach at Utah State, picking a starting quarterback. With the departure of Diondre Borel, Andersen will look to JC transfer Adam Kennedy, sophomore Jeremy Higgins, or red shirt freshman Alex Hart to step in and fill his shoes.
"We'd love to able to name a starter to go through spring, but as of right now, it's a 3 man race. Every one of them is different, but they're competing at a very high level."
Andersen is also excited to have Robert Turbin back from injury. Turbin tore his ACL last off season, missing the entire 2010 season. "He looks good, he feels great, and he's a tremendous leader. You get a year taken away from you and it will really light your fire. He's a really focused young man."
Utah State will also be changing from the 4-3 to the 3-4, Andersen says it's due to the personnel on the roster. "The 3-4 simply allows us to get our best 11 athletes on the field and I believe we are gifted at the linebacker position."
When asked what Aggie fans should be excited about, Andersen said, "this football team. Not just the talent we have coming back but you can be excited about the tremendous schedule we have. We open up with the defending National Champions in Auburn."
Andersen also went on to talk about the depth of this Aggie team. "We have a lot more competition, if you come out and watch our scrimmage tomorrow, I promise you you'll see a lot more competition than we've had in the first 2 years our coaching staff has been there."
