(KSL News) A water well broke down in Eagle Mountain today, cutting the city's water supply by 40 percent.

The well's driveshaft broke, and the soonest anyone can be on site to fix it is Tuesday.

City officials worry that if there's a fire, there won't be enough water to fight it. So they've shut down all sprinklers at city parks, and they're asking residents to not water their lawns. They're also asking residents to conserve water in their homes

City administrator John Hendrickson, said, "They'll have enough to drink and should have enough to shower and bathe and do the dishes."

There's no word yet on what caused the well to go down, but the city administrator did point out that it's Friday the 13th.
