Tom Callan, KSL NewsradioA Layton father is charged with the death of his 40-day-old son.

Brad Crook, 29, is charged with felony child abuse homicide.

Layton Police Sgt. Jim Peatree says, "The first part of April, we received a medical call to our dispatch center, regarding from Mr. Crook. He stated that his child had ingested some water while having a bath."

Crook claimed the baby drowned in water. Peatree says there were injuries on the child not consistent with what Mr. Crook was stating.

After an initial court appearance, Crook was released from the Davis County Jail on a $20,000 bond.
