(KSL News) A tanker carrying liquid nitrogen crashed in Colorado last night and forced the closure of part of U.S. Highway 40 for more than eight hours.

This afternoon, all lanes are back open.

It happened just 11 miles east of the Utah-Colorado border near the city of Rangely around 8:00 p.m.

Colorado Highway Patrol says a pickup truck collided with the tanker. Both trucks were incinerated, and both drivers were killed. Troopers don't know if there were any passengers.

The pavement of both sides of U.S. Highway 40 melted, and that forced the area to be closed all night.
