PROVO — Police say a drunk driver ran his car into a gas meter in a Provo trailer park Sunday night -- causing a leak that prompted the evacuation of nearby trailers.
Shortly after 6 p.m., the Ford Mustang struck a trailer's gas meter in Lamplighter Estates at 255 North 1600 West, causing the leak, said Provo Fire and Rescue Deputy Chief Gary Jolley.
Jolley said the crash didn't cause injuries but crews are worried the vehicles ignition could create a spark and set the gas aflame.
"It was quite hazardous and extremely dangerous," Jolley said.
Crews worked cautiously until the vehicles ignition was turned off, Jolley said. Questar Gas shut off the gas line and will do any repairs Monday morning.
Provo police took the driver into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
