WEST VALEY CITY, Utah (AP) -- A West Valley City doctor is accused of prescribing painkillers to his patients only on the condition they share with him.
Court documents say a former patient and employee of the doctor says the physician requested on several times that she share her Lortab and OxyContin.
Authorities say the "pill splitting" allegedly lasted for several months, and involved another patient. Court documents say the former employee kept a log of all the transactions with doctor, including the type of drug and the amount of pills split.
Court records say another patient involved in the alleged drug splitting says the doctor implied if he did NOT continue sharing the pills he would stop prescribing them and make sure no other doctor would ever prescribed them again.
Police have confiscated controlled substance records. But so far, no charges have been filed against the doctor.
