BELLEVUE, Wash., Jan 5, 2006 (UPI via COMTEX) -- The fake glued-on goatee that a woman in Bellevue, Wash., was wearing as a disguise led to her arrest as a suspect in a string of coffee hut robberies.
Police said Lindsey Pruitt, 22, was arrested while wearing the beard, and had a fake, but realistic-looking gun tucked in her waistband.
The woman who called the police with the tip, Jessica Rice, 27, said the beard is what drew her attention to Pruitt, The New York Times reported.
"I thought it was a male," she said. "She had very small hands, and her sleeves were around her hands, but her fingertips were very tiny."
Police also arrested a New York man as Pruitt's suspected accomplice, and were holding him on parole violation and misdemeanor weapons charges.
At least 10 coffee huts were robbed last month, each one for less than $200.
"I bet they were strung out on something other than caffeine," said Michael Chiu, a Bellevue police spokesman.
