Andrew Adams, KSL NewsradioTaylorsville police have a mystery on their hands. They're trying to get to the bottom of a violent crash that killed a motorcyclist. The accident happened at the intersection of 4000 South and 1300 West.
All that remain here are shards of broken glass, metal scraps and question marks. Taylorsville Police Sgt. Mike Rickets says it was nasty crash. He says, "Anytime a motorcycle hits a car it's an ugly crash, but this accident, it was a significant impact."
He says the motorcycle had to be speeding with how hard it hit the Mercedes. "The impact of the motorcycle caused the Mercedes to roll over on its side."
The motorcyclist, a 49-year-old man, died at the scene. The other driver was taken to the hospital.
Police continue to investigate but don't believe alcohol or drugs were a factor.
