(KSL News) -- Investigators believe a short circuit caused a car to burst into flames in Riverton.
It was parked inside the garage at 12400 south 1900 west last night, when owner Shane Bright suspected something was wrong.
Shane Bright, Homeowner: "I smelled smoke in the house, figured there was a short of something, started looking around, opened the garage door and my car was just engulfed in flames."
Bright and his family got out of the home safely. He called for help and tried to douse flames with water, but it didn't work. Fire crews contained the fire to the garage.
Investigators believe something sparked near the car's battery and caused the fire. They say the explosions neighbors report hearing, were the tires blowing up.
