Coco Warner Reporting Utahns rang in the New Year Saturday night, and First Night organizers turned Salt Lake City into the Big Easy this year.
Parents and children had fun with the New Orleans theme, helping their children adorn themselves in Mardi Gras-like garb.
Chad Williams: "We're working on a noisemaker, a bracelet and a hat."
The Children's Museum sponsored the craft-making, and at 5:45 the kids could show off in a parade to the main stage area.
The main gathering areas for the food and entertainment were on:
- Big Easy Street, which is West Temple between 100 South and 200 South
- The Salt Palace Convention Center
- The Joseph Smith Memorial Building
- The Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center
- Abravanel Hall
- And Assembly Hall on Temple Square.
As for the schedule, there simply was just too much great stuff to mention. The First Night web site has a complete schedule and parking information.
TRAX was free with a First Night button, which was purchased for 10 dollars.
