(KSL News) A mother and her boyfriend are in the Salt Lake County jail this morning following the death of a 3-year-old girl.
Police say Veronica Samaniego took her daughter to the hospital Wednesday night, saying she'd fallen in the bathtub. The girl later died.
Doctors say the girl's injuries were not consistent with a fall, and that she had older injuries as well. Police believe the girl was abused by Samaniego's boyfriend, Salvador Lee Sanchez.
The girl's 5-year-old sibling is now in protective custody.
