Governor Calls for Fire Restrictions

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Governor Jon Huntsman is expanding fire restrictions across the state.

Beginning at just after midnight tomorrow a statewide fire rules will take effect and remain in place until further notice.

Those restrictions include no setting or building open fire outside campfires within approved fire pits and grills. Smoking is not allowed unless within an enclosed vehicle or on land clear of brush or grass. No fireworks or tracer ammunition is allowed on federal, state and unincorporated private lands.

The governor is also asking local governments and law enforcement to be vigilant about enforcing illegal fireworks bans.
