(KSL News) The city of Riverdale has banned all fireworks and open fires in part of the city due to extreme fire danger.

The ban extends from Parker Drive south to River Valley Drive to 700 West, across Riverdale Road to 1050 West and then to the north gate of Hill Air Force Base.

The entire east area of the city is also included.

The fire chief says the ban is necessary because fire danger is the worst it has been in many years.

The restrictions will remain in place until October.
