WEST JORDAN -- A 21-year-old West Jordan man was killed Sunday after police say he failed to yield to oncoming traffic at an intersection.

About 4:30 p.m., a man driving a Geo was headed west through the intersection of 6400 West and 9400 South when his car was struck by a red Ford truck traveling north.

West Jordan Police Lt. Dean Waters said it's unclear whether the driver of the Geo failed to obey the stop sign at the intersection, or if he stopped then pulled out in front of the truck.

The driver was killed on impact, Waters said. Police had not released the man's name as of Sunday evening.

The driver and the two passengers in the truck were uninjured. The driver of the Geo was traveling alone.
